Kelli’s scheming leads Peter and Amanda’s relationship to the brink. Martha gives Ash an ultimatum.
Extended Summary
Kelli and Ethan meet at the beach for their next session of plotting and planning Amanda’s demise. Kelli insists she has Amanda wrapped around her finger and will have Peter and Amanda engaged by the end of the day! Ethan seriously wonders how she is going to pull that off but Kelli insists the further she sets her sister up, the harder she will fall. Oblivious to Kelli’s machinations, Amanda is a picture of happiness as she kisses Peter goodbye for work. These two couldn’t be any more in love if they tried. Kelli arrives home to find Peter and Amanda all over each other – it’s time to put her plan into action.
Later in the day, Peter arrives home and Kelli comments how romantic he is to have sent Amanda flowers. Peter is confused – he didn’t send them. Curious, he opens the card and is shocked to read the intimate message to Amanda from another man. Peter’s face falls but Kelli couldn’t be happier – so far her plan is working!
Amanda returns home and is confronted by an angry Peter demanding to know who sent the flowers. Amanda is totally bemused and insists she doesn’t know who they are from. Amanda is stunned as Peter implies she’s having an affair. As everything for the happy couple begins to unravel, Kelli listens on from the room next door. She smiles sinisterly, her plan is perfectly on track.
Martha arrives at the Summer Bay House, having just received the news about Ric and Rocco. Colleen (who has popped in for a visit to catch up on the gossip) watches on as Alf tells Martha he is disappointed in her that she hasn’t been there for her family sooner. The comments only serve to rile Martha up even more and an argument erupts. Fed up with her Granddad’s attitude, Martha storms off. Alf is left to vent to Colleen. His frustrations spill over and Colleen is left thoughtful.
Martha meets up with Ash at the Surf Club. She is keen to know how things went with him breaking the news to his wife about their relationship. Ash reluctantly reveals he couldn’t do it. Martha’s disappointment is clear and Ash does some serious backpedaling to stay in her good books. Eventually, Martha accepts his excuse and is won over again by his sweet talk. Ash moves off and when Colleen arrives and sees that Martha is alone, she heads straight to her. Colleen gives Martha some heartfelt advice to listen to Alf because he is wise and is only looking out for her best interests. Colleen moves off leaving Martha with plenty of food for thought. Later, Martha returns home and gives Alf the chance to have his say. Alf expresses his reasons for thinking Martha is being taken for a ride by Ash and clearly Martha begins to waver as she takes in his words.
Martha later heads down to the beach to meet Ash but is pulled up short by the sight of Ash’s family, who arrived for unexpected visit. Ash is left no option but to introduce Martha as ‘a friend’. Ash’s wife is none the wiser but Martha feels completely awkward. Martha finds an excuse to leave but not before seeing that Ash’s family is far from the unhappy unit he portrayed.
Later, Ash tracks down Martha to apologise but as she struggles to fight back the tears, she gives Ash the ultimatum to tell his wife the truth or otherwise they can not stay together. What will Ash decide?
