Suzy was an Indonesian woman who turned up at the Austin house in the middle of an argument between Martha and Hugo and announced that she was Hugo’s wife. Hugo convinced her to leave when he had to go out and told Martha that Suzy was just a business partner that he had married for legal reasons. However, when she ran into Martha and Gina in the Diner, Suzy acted as though it had been a normal marriage and, when Martha found them arguing at the house, disagreed with Hugo’s claim that there was nothing personal between them. She met Hugo in private and insisted his life was with her, giving him a one way ticket for Jakarta for two weeks time and saying she would leave if he agreed to use it, which he did.
When Hugo failed to get on the plane, Suzy returned to the country and insisted he had to come back to Indonesia with her, adding that if Martha knew the real him she wouldn’t want anything to do with him. Hugo tried to leave town but Suzy and two associates blocked his path and Suzy again insisted he would come back with her. She then went to the farm and surprised Martha.
It was around this time that it became clear that Suzy was a leading member of the people smuggling operation that Hugo was involved in. Angelo followed Derrick Quaid, another member of the operation, to the airfield where Suzy was holding Martha prisoner. Suzy was suspicious of Derrick’s story of his escape, correctly guessing that the police had let him go, but despite this, she instructed Derrick to take Martha out to Chinatown and tell Hugo he would exchange her for the money Hugo owed Suzy.
Suzy next tracked down Hugo, who had taken a captive Charlie out on his boat. She approached his boat on her own and asked him what was going on. However, while Hugo held her attention Charlie jumped her from behind and, in a brief struggle, Suzy was knocked unconscious and fell into the water. Hugo fled the scene while Charlie was saving Suzy from drowning. Since Charlie was back at the police station soon afterwards, it seems likely Suzy was taken into custody.
