On their first day at school, Sally is the only one of the Fletcher kids that goes to the Primary School and is upset about not knowing anyone. Pippa tells Miss Patterson about Sally's imaginary friend Milco, and then she runs away and is found by Bobby. Fisher takes Sally back to Miss Patterson and by the end of the day she is much happier and they all sing "The Road to Gungagai".
Later, when Tom and Pippa began rowing, Sally became convinced that Pippa was going to leave and that she'd have to move out so she plotted with Lance to get Tom interested in Miss Patterson. Though Tom admitted he thought Miss Patterson was nice he told Sally he was only in love with Pippa and Sally put her attempt at matchmaking behind her.
