Played Shane Parrish
Since joining Home and Away, Dieter Brummer has begun to get a real taste for adventure, both on- and off-screen, with his on-screen character, Shane Parrish.
"I really want to do skydiving. Andrew Hill keeps asking me to come skydiving with him," said Dieter, "I'm also quite keen to try bungee jumping." But Dieter's dangerous pastimes have taken their toll in the past, when the soap star broke his knee while go-karting. "I crashed, twisted my ankle and snapped my knee," he explained, "my girlfriend's dad turned me on to karting. He took me to Sydney's Eastern Creek race track, and I did a circuit in a BMW team racing car!"
Luckily for the producers of Home and Away, Dieter is far too busy working to partake in any dangerous pastimes. While he wasn't filming, he did publicity work for the soap - spending between 15-20 minutes a day signing autographs. "To be honest, I'd rather not be famous, but it would be impossible to do my job without being recognised when I go out," says Dieter.
Apart from the occasional bit of aggro, Dieter said that he enjoyed his time in Summer Bay and was content to stay with the soap.
"I'd be crazy to leave at the moment. I'm getting some great storylines and I'm having a great time with all the cast and the crew."
When asked how long he'd be on the soap, he said, "I cannot imagine being here longer than three years, any longer than that and there's a threat of becoming typecast. But once my role as Shane is over, I don't think I'll be appearing in any of the other soaps," explains Dieter, "Sometimes I have this great urge to just leave this industry completely and get a real job, something outdoors, just me outside, under the sun and I'll be happy!" |
