Associate Script Producer: 2009

Script Producer: 2009-2010

James Walker was born in Perth in 1973. At a young age, his passion for writing was discovered when he was singled out in a competition and sent over to Los Angeles. He gained experience in the journalism world, before going to AFTRS and graduating with a Master of Arts in Screenwriting and a Graduate Diploma in Directing in 2004.

His first major television credit was for McLeod’s Daughters, where he was a researcher, trained in the script department and edited scripts as well as writing four episodes himself. Afterwards, he joined the Home and Away script department, wrote and edited several episodes, before he was appointed as the associate script producer and, eventually, script producer.

James’s first episode as script producer aired on 25th September 2009 (Ep#4951) and his final episode aired on 19th November 2010 (Ep#5210). During his tenure, both jointly with Faith McKinnon, and solely, James oversaw storylines such as the people smugglers, the return of Marilyn Chambers and Roo Stewart and the Liam/Bianca romance as well as the Miles/Rabbit storyline and the introduction of 3 main characters.

Eventually, he moved into network development, but continued writing episodes for Home and Away, as well as Wild Boys and Wonderland. After a few years, he wound back his work with the network and became more heavily involved in Fremantle Media.

James passed away on 20th January 2015, due to complications with diabetes. He is survived by his wife Jenena and two sons.
